Singing the Same Tune

Now that you have developed a script for your action plan, gather your advocacy team to share the messages, strategies and proof points you have compiled.  These tools will help you to articulate your case and secure support from key decision makers.  Remember, school board members make decisions based on the feedback they receive from the community-at-large.  There is strength in numbers, so coordinating many voices is crucial to winning board support for arts learning.

Here are some tips:

• Gather your team - Identify advocates who are also key influencers with other stakeholder groups.
• Disseminate talking points and FAQs to spokespersons and make them available online.
• Host an informal training session where advocates can practice elevator speeches and take turns answering tough questions.
• Create groups on Facebook to share information with other advocates.
