Ask for More logo

Ask 4 More Arts, a school-community-arts partnership, grew out of the unique and highly successful Ask 4 More collaborative established five years ago to strengthen teaching and learning in the Jackson Public School District. The idea of “asking for more” from teachers, principals, students, parents, and the community has led to the creation of arts integration and artist-in-residence programs in fifteen elementary schools—so far.

Casey Elementary School

After just over a year, the collaborative has achieved impressive results. Casey Elementary School, which has been working towards arts integration for the last five years, has seen better test scores. Casey was awarded the highest rating in Mississippi’s school accountability system and recently received one of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts.

The work done so far by Ask 4 More Arts has set the stage to dramatically impact the lives of children and to bring citizens from all backgrounds together to share their commitment to the arts. Over the next five years, Ask 4 More Arts plans to expand its initiative into most, if not all, of the 38 elementary schools throughout the Jackson Public Schools district.
