visit the big thought Web site for more information about the power of partnerships in North TexasBig Thought, formerly Young Audiences of North Texas, is one of the largest and strongest non-profit arts education partnerships in the nation. Based in Dallas, it has been empowering communities through education, arts and culture since 1987. Big Thought offers seven innovative arts and culture-based programs, instruction, performances, workshops, cultural excursions, artist residencies and teacher training.  Its programs reach a diverse group of youth; helping them to work in teams, solve problems, and get along better with others.

Big Thought has been a huge success.  It has helped children do better in school, teachers have learned how to better integrate the arts in classrooms, and the bonds between children and families have been strengthened.

Thriving Minda

Thriving Minds, a new partnership between the City of Dallas, Dallas Independent School District and 70-plus arts, cultural and community organizations and managed by Big Thought, is designed to ensure equal access to neighborhood-based, creative-learning opportunities for every Dallas student and their families. Through its "creative community" model, Thriving Minds empowers neighborhood leaders and residents to identify and coordinate existing creative-learning opportunities, and form new collaborative programs that are available free-of-cost to families through schools, libraries, recreation centers, churches and other community-based organizations. In addition, Thriving Minds partners have implemented a system-wide model to integrate creative learning into core academic subjects in schools, in addition to providing 45 minutes of arts and 45 minutes of music education for every Dallas ISD student each week. Thriving Minds' holistic approach ensures children are surrounded by creative learning opportunities in school, through after-school programming, and out-of-school time during evenings, weekends and summer.
