June 29, 2006, the state of California designated the largest ever expenditure for arts education in public schools in California and nationwide. Schools will now receive an estimated $105 million in ongoing funding for arts education, in addition to a one-time allocation of $500 million for arts, music, and physical education equipment over the first year.
